The Forbidden City of China ( 2006-10-10 10:22 )

The Forbidden City of China, in Chinese language is called "Gugong", it“s the imperial palace during the Ming and Qing dynasties. It“s huge and beautiful!

　　The reason for constructing the Forbidden City is make a big palace to protect the emperor“s life is safe. The Forbidden City is in China“s capital-Beijing. The meaning of the Forbidden City in the older day is that“s the place that the emperor live, the place that shows the authoritativeness that the emperor have, and the place that can keep the emperor safe. But in today, there are no more emperor live in China, so the Forbidden City is only for tourism.

　　In China, the emperor is the most powerful man. He can control all the tings in China, he“s the man who rule the country. The emperor think that the whole country is his own wealth, it“s under his control. Because of that, the emperor want to build a palace to protect his life, to show his authoritativeness. That makes the Forbidden City build.

　　The Forbidden City lying at the center of Beijing was the imperial palace during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Now known as the Palace Museum, it is to the north of Tiananmen Square. Rectangular in shape, it is the world“s largest palace complex and covers 74 hectares. Surrounded by a six meter deep moat and a ten meter high wall are 9,999 buildings.

　　 The sense of the Forbidden City in older day is to protect the emperor“s life safe. But in now, it“s a way to showing Chinese culture, it“s a tourism to earn money.

　　The Forbidden City is very important in China, in older day, that“s the place the emperor live. Because the emperor have power to control all the country, so the Forbidden City just like the goverment headcentre, all the laws, orders are from here, from the emperor. But in 2004 today, it“s still important to Chinese people. Because it“s the moest biggest palace in the world, it shows the history and the culture of China. Also, it make Chinese people pride. The Forbidden City is important today and the older day.

生活 — 老外在北京街头撒钱诱中国人捡并伺机拍摄 [公然侮辱中国人] ( 2006-7-31 13:12 )

昨天下午4点半左右，一外籍男子在金台路撒出大量硬币，让路人捡并伺机拍摄。此事激起民愤。最终，老外在众人面前捡起自己撒在地上的硬币，仓皇离开。

此事经过不足5分钟。当时，金台路红庙路北口的公交站牌下站满了等车的人，梅先生是其中之一。

梅先生说，这名老外是个年轻人，金发碧眼，身高1.9米左右，身穿中国的绿色老军装，头戴一顶雷锋帽。与他在一起的还有另一金发碧眼的年轻女人和一名亚裔男子，“女的穿一身红色旗袍，亚裔男子个头比较矮，穿了一件白色T恤。”

　　事发前，金发男女各端一台摄像机，四处拍摄。突然，其中的男老外往人群里抛出一大把硬币，并朝路边一名捡矿泉水瓶子的老者指了指地上的钱。随后，俩老外端着摄像机站在5米外开始拍摄。硬币大概有三四十个，有人民币也有外币，有分币也有角币。

　　“你们不是侮辱中国人吗！”“把钱捡起来！”“滚出中国去！”等车的群众义愤填膺，斥骂声此起彼伏。一位大妈指着撒钱的老外说：“

我的2006时代人物 — 李开复 ( 2006-7-31 11:12 )

李开复，原微软全球副总裁，现加盟Google中国研发中心的运营，并担任Google中国区总裁。
　　李开复在语音识别、人工智能、三维图形及网络多媒体等领域享有很高的声誉。李开复博士于1998年7月加盟微软公司，1998年，李开复加盟微软公司，并随后创立了微软亚洲研究院。2005年7月加盟Google，担任中国区总裁一职。
　　李开复曾就读于卡内基梅隆大学，获计算机学博士学位。后担任副教授，并开发出了世界上第一个"非特定人连续语音识别系统"。1988年，《商业周刊》授予该系统"最重要科学创新奖"。在校期间，李开复还开发了"奥赛罗"人机对弈系统，因为1988年击败了人类的国际象棋世界冠军而名噪一时。李博士曾以最高荣誉毕业于哥伦比亚大学，获计算机学士学位。李开复同时还是美国电气电子工程协会的院士。
